We decided to have a leisurely day in Lido. While waiting at the bus stop, something disturbing happened. This auntie below came out of no where and started speaking loudly to us. There was no one else at the station. She pointed to her rusty and chunky metal ring and spoke louder and louder. The only word I could catch was 'Euro'. We kept telling her we don't speak Italian and she got more and more frustrated at us. She yelled louder and slower in a more infuriating way. My best guess is she was trying to sell her ring to us?? After yelling at us for a while, she crossed the street and walked into a park...
We walked to the Excelsior Hotel
It had access to a long stretch of beautiful beach with the view of the Adriatic Sea.
After that, my husband went on a hunt for yummies by bicycle.
He found more amazing Viennese biscuits and pizza. We also tried some local potato chips. Looking at these biscuits now is making me want to weep.
For dinner, he bought some carbonara and tagliatelle from the highly rated La Taverna. It was really tasty.
The next morning, I was sad that it was our final breakfast there. My husband had figured out how to make the most perfect toasted mini paninis. I could eat a basket of these. We enjoyed our final serving of fresh crepes with chocolate sauce. We wrote in the guestbook and then left Villa Stella.
We took a different vaporetto route which allowed us to see Venice Island from the other side. We stopped at San Marcuola to explore the Cannaregio District before catching our plane.
We bought some lovely cherries from a local store and explored Campo del Ghetto (Venetian Ghetto).

More cicheti. We tried the Polpette (meatball), an Arancini and a zucchini thingy. By now I was missing vegetables so much. Brown food is yummy but your stomach knows when it needs other colours instead.
We arrived at the port on time to catch the bus to the airport. Final glimpse at the canal.
