"I pronounce you, husband and wife." Here we are, married! I decided that it would be both fun and meaningful for us to sit down after the wedding to look back at the memorable moments and blog about them rather than blog as we go. So many unforgettable, unexpected and undeserved moments happened throughout the year after the proposal last May. One pleasant surprise after another.
Our engagement shoot in Nottingham was the first to take place in summer last year. A wonderful friend of ours, a very passionate photographer was kind enough to take pictures for us. We were blown away when we saw his equipment and even more when we saw the pictures which were so good that they did not need to be edited! He is immensely talented and we know that he is going to be famous really soon. We're so grateful for this beautiful gift.
For the first day, we took some pictures at our home.
We headed off to Wollaton Park after lunch and brought along a guitar and a tiny bouquet which I got from a local florist. The colours and arrangement were absolutely perfect. I still cannot believe I got that bouquet for £3! It is a beautiful park with a stunning mansion-looking hall in the middle of it (also where part of the Dark Knight Rises was filmed). Two of our other friends joined us. They ended up helping to film us and also hold the reflective tools etc. One of our friends was kind enough to make us a short vid of the shoot which ended up becoming our dinner intro vid.
We were too engrossed in the scenic views that we did not realise what time it was. Before we knew it, the park rangers(?) drove by and told us that the park would be closed in 5 mins. Looking back, they were quite irresponsible. We were deep in the park and it would take much longer than 5 mins to get to the exit/entrance. They could have offered us a ride in the very empty truck. We ran to the exit but it took about 15 mins. When we got there, the doors were chained tight. There was another group of teens trapped inside. We saw them attempting to climb over the wall and after a while, they all made it out.
After some discussion, we decided to give it a try. By we, I mean them because I was terrified of heights. Also, I was in a dress. Thankfully, one of our friends had an extra pair of shorts with her. I sat perched atop the wall which was roughly about two storeys high. Then, I freaked out because I needed to push myself off the wall and onto the lamppost. Thinking of that move paralysed me. I had the head knowledge that everything was going to be alright, how the escape route works etc but my body would not move! After 5 mins of persuasion and being coached through the motions step-by-step, I managed to batter my body into submission. I got to witness everyone's 'parenting skills' in stressful situations. :) All I can say is I love you, Ying. After the tense situation was over, our photographer decided to whip out his tripod and snap a picture commemorating the spot. :)
We went out for dinner after in Beeston and shared some laughs over the funnily named Chinese dishes. 'Squirrel-shaped fishes' and more. For some reason, we laughed so hard over a dish called Kung Po Kai Ding. The historical lamppost/wall and some behind-the-scenes silliness:
