Arise and shine to fresh pain au chocolats and croissants.
After our usual heavy breakfast, we headed off to Venice and saw some pretty yachts along the way.
We admired the beautiful architecture on both sides of the canal.
Saw the Church of the Salut upclose.
Such a stately sight.
Some really beautiful gilding.
Prior to coming here, we looked up the museums and galleries. Almost all of them had hefty entrance fees. Thankfully, I saw a sentence on the Galleria dell'Accademia's website saying that entrance was free for the first Sunday of the month. Perfect timing!
Love these intricate ceilings.
Found some of Canaletto's art (my husband's favourite). We have a Canaletto Grand Canal poster from the National Gallery given to us by my sister and bro-in-law hanging in the home for 2 years now.
After spending quite some time at the gallery, my husband brought me to Antico Forno to show me the place in person and also to have more pizza. I ordered a white pizza which was made with goat's cheese, blue cheese and mozzarella.
We wandered around the area for a bit and sent a postcard home which took 2 whole months to arrive!
Then, we made a mandatory stop for gelato given the hot weather. This stand sold very yummy gelato, unlike the watered down version we bought in the touristy area.
Passed the Rialto Bridge and I got a glimpse of the market for myself.
Headed back to Lido afterwards, enjoying the views of more buildings that lined the canal along the way.
Fancy water taxis
Upon arriving back in Lido, we visited the local supermarket to stock up on lettuce and fruits.
