Deb: About a month after the Nottingham shoot, being the excited pair we were, we talked our friend into taking some pictures in London for us mainly for two reasons: (a) We would be living/working there (b) It was where all my mail came from in the entire 5 years that we were living in different continents. (c) (A retrospective point: it was where we got our marriage licence in December.)
Ying: Our friend had gone and scouted out Westminster Bridge a week before in the wee hours of the morning. He reported back that the first batch of tourists - Japanese, as they were - would invade the bridge at 6am. As a result, we were summoned to be at the bridge at 4.45am on the day of our shoot. We had to wake at 3.30am to get ready in our hostel (we were still living in Nottingham at that time), and took a cab to the bridge.
The first shot of the most beautiful sunrise was taken by our friend at 4.30am.
After we arrived, he started tinkering with an idea he had using an umbrella. We had been hoping that it would rain a bit and it did! I love the effect of the water reflecting off the street. We wanted to capture the typical drizzle which UK is known for.
I love it when you call~
We later went around spots in Central London that were meaningful to us.
London Eye.
Somerset House (Ying's office)
Charing Cross Station.
I love how the reds are contrasted with the other colours.
Here are some pictures from Covent Garden and a shot at Piccadilly Circus which concluded the night.
My favourite shots:
