We set off on the Wild Atlantic Way and stopped by at Sneem. We decided to have brunch at the Village Kitchen owned by the O'Connor family for 30 years. This was the view from behind the property.
This interesting shed caught my eye.
Loved the tea-towels drying in the wind.
This was the best tasting waffle by far. Unbeatably scrumptious. It looked so simple with homemade syrup and icing sugar but so delicious that we demolished it in seconds. We also had a scone and Irish Breakfast which included black pudding.
I managed to catch a lovely picture of the owner (I think) next to a sign with a lovely rhyme:
O'Connor's Tea is acknowledged to be
A famous restorer in sadness
It strengthens the frame, enlivens the brain
and enfuses a spirit of gladness.
After we filled our bellies, we set off to Derrynane House. Didn't manage to go in as there was a large group of school children taking a tour of the place. We decided to walk to the beach to look across to Abbey Island instead.
The water was a brilliant greenish blue.
As were the curious rocks on the sand.
The cloudy sky made for a dramatic backdrop.
After a good long walk, the tide has risen and at one point, our path in the sand had gone underwater so we had to climb over some rocks to get back to the car.
We drove on towards Waterville. The spectacular view on the way.
Waterville comes into sight.
The pretty flowers made it feel as though we were on some Mediterranean holiday.
We decided to have lunch at An Corcan Restaurant, thank you Tripadvisor! We met a nice Irish family on holiday and a group of Swiss travellers. The Irish family were headed off to Skelligs Chocolate Factory which we passed on the way to our next destination.
The Fish and Chips and Beef and Guiness Stew did the trick.
