Zoo on Boxing Day Part I- The Reptile House, Gorilla Kingdom, Meet the Monkeys, Lions, The Petting Zoo and Others!

On what was a cold wintery Boxing Day, we decided to take a break from painting and doing up the new home to go to the London Zoo. I've always loved zoos as a child. My memories of visiting the Taiping Zoo with my dad were one of my fondest. I've only been to one other zoo (Melbourne). Very pleased with our experience in the London Zoo given that it was in the middle of winter! Life inside was still hustling and bustling away.

Blogging about this after the hiatus is proving to be so educational for me. I'm re-experiencing the zoo! So happy! For those of you who won't have a chance of going to the London Zoo, I hope my account below will introduce you to some of the wonders of the animal kingdom. :)

The Reptile House

1. The Fiji Iguana- just love the vibrant colours!

2. The Vietnamese Long-Nosed Snake- such an interesting shape.

3. Boelen's Python- the dark iridescent scales are mesmerizing

4. A water Chameleon- just for being a Chameleon!

5. Radiated Tortoise- fascinating shell!

6. Don't know the name of this one but scared us very much...

Gorilla Kingdom

1. Stop monkey-ing around!

2. The actual gorilla looked really sad but it was also staring right into people's souls at certain points.

Meet the Monkeys

1. The Colobus Monkey clan- so sweet how Mommy Monkey is cradling her newborn.

2. Ziggy the Mangabey- only a blur shot because Ziggy was in a running/swinging mood.

3. The naughty Squirrel Monkey - trying to steal anything it can get its hands on. It almost stole our friend's handphone from his hand!

Beware of them Lions!

1. Snoozing

2. If looks could kill.....

The Petting Zoo

1. The hubby living his dream.

2. 'We (all) LIKE Sheep!' and Goats (spot the janggut)!

The Wonderful Others

1. The Bearded Pig

2. Say Hi to The Happy Llama- how sad that you missed hubby's joy in repeating Winamp's catchphrase over and over. :) (Note to self: must watch the Emperor's New Groove again)

3. The Alpacas- from South Africa, described as callous, woolly and doe-eyed.

4. The lovely Camel

5. Hauntingly pretty owls- We each took turns having a staring contest with the black one. We lost.

6. The Hairy Porcupine taking a nap

7. The Astute Serval

8. The Giant Galapagos Tortoises that can live up to 150 years.

9. The most adorable family of Otters! They sure know how to pose for a family portrait.

10. Sweet Reindeer
