Beautiful Santorini Day 3- Ancient Thira

We set off from Oia and on the way to Fira, we passed this gorgeous view.

We spotted a tiny cafe overlooking the cliff. Naturally, we stopped for some R & R.

The view from the cafe- perched right atop the cliff.

Ying's Greek coffee- Interesting factoid: when the coffee is finished, it can be tilted and people read fortunes from the design created by the sludge at the bottom :)

We then stopped at Fira for Lucky Souvlaki- the best shop in all of Santorini. So much value for the price. 2.50Euros for a delicious pita wrapped around fresh yoghurt, onions, veg, huge red tomatoes, fries and hot tasty meat off the souvla

My all-time fav- the Gyros Pita

After which it was on to Ancient Thira!

When we arrived at the foot of the hill/mountain, we had to ride up a steep cliff which made 180degree turns every 100 metres or so. At one point, I had to climb off the scooter because turning was so difficult. :D Fat from all the Gyros Pita. The view on the ride up was BRILLIANT. Ancient Thira is right at the top of this Mount Sinai-ish place.

See the end of this road- the 180deg turn downwards. Also note how narrow the road is!

The wonderful view of the town of Kamari below.

Right at the top of the hill, you have to climb up more to get to Ancient Thira

We stopped at the general area to take in the majestic views.

There were rattling sounds in the grass when I snapped this shot. I started having paranoid images of rattle-snakes jumping out at me.

Yay! A shot to show you the 180degree angle!! And also look! The road does not have bars preventing you from falling over the edge if you fail to turn accurately! You fly straight down the cliff.

We proceeded to take many pictures because of the unexplainable beauty of where we were standing.

Trying some artistic shots with the ring.

We went down later to Kamara Beach :)

I picked up some smooth stones and suddenly memories of Batu Seremban came flooding over me. Haha.

 I challenged and he accepted.

 Check out the fingers.

  FOCUS.

Got Sheldon-fied for a second there.

Live long and prosper.

Went back to Ecoxenia and marinated our chicken and prepared our yummy sausages.

Dug up my beyond rusted Girl Guides' skills in making a wood-based fire with the white fire-starter in the corner. Ying tried 3 times and failed. Haha.

SUCCESS!!!

You gotta blow it the right way.

Uber proud of myself. Dump me in the forest with a bunch of firestarters and I WILL BE FINE! Lols. Never thought of us as cat-people. But after this trip, we've taken a small liking to cats. :) I was tickled when this cat would rub against my pink furry slippers. :D

Ying BBQ-ing our dinner. Old campfire songs light up my mind. :) Banana-banana OooohHHHH bananaaaaa... Akadakadoo Bananaaaaa
