Singapore Part 3

Day 3 Part 1: East Coast Park and Katong Village

Early in the morning, we went for breakfast. The nasi lemak was so so yummy and the kueh thing(forgot the name) was fabulous. Happy and full, I was. We headed to East Coast Park. Nan Eng dropped us there before she went to teach piano. Thanks Nan Eng!

I am a huge fan of blue skies. So rare to get a truly blue sky. Skies are usually humid grey/whitish back home.  I must say I adore the clumps of coconut trees.

We saw people cycling on one path and skating on another. We got curious. So we walked on and realised there were many shops renting bikes and skates. So clever. The sign on the floor says: Run, Stumble, Splat. Haha. That day, the offer was 8 bucks an hour, 2 hours free= 3 hours in total! So sad we only had an hr to spare. We wanted to walk for half an hour more. So began the bargaining. :(

In the end, after multiple rejections, a guy was willing to rent us a tandembike! For 4 bucks. Although we were still being ripped off, it was money well spent to me. First time on a tandem bike! Also, after 40 minutes of pedalling we were so exhausted, unmentionable parts were aching to the high heavens, so the time span was just right. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, being someone who doesn't know how to ride a bike and all :D Thanks Ying. You steered me well.

We went to a mall and into a 2nd-hand book store. After browsing through some books, we went to Katong Village for the real Katong Laksa (they sell it everywhere in Singapore so we figured might as well go to the real place). We walked along and asked passerbys where to have the laksa. All recommended 328. Apparently it's the best. So we went there.

And the obligatory photos of celebrity patrons. Anthony Bourdain! Makan Sutra dude. Charmaine Sheh too. The laksa.....I loved it. I know I've been raving inordinately about Singapore food but really the laksa was GOOD (Again, Sis you should try it if you haven't!) The sauce was so creamy, almost western. The prawns were so fresh unlike the frozen/sugarised/tasteless ones in Penang's curry mees) All for 3 SGD a bowl. Reasonable price for such a yummy dish! Even if you convert, Old Town Kopitiam couldn't serve a RM10 laksa to save it's skin. :P They charge you RM6 for maggi mee okay?!
We had rojak too. The same place sold century egg porridge, if we weren't so full we would have ordered it :D Also, spotted Ekin Cheng in more celebrity pictures on the wall.

Ying wanted to stop by and grab some nyonya treats. He loves 'em. (such an adult at taste) Haha. He loves putumayam and nyonya kuehs. Like my mommy. So he picked up some coconut-green balls. Haha sorry I have no interest in nyonya food so I don't know their names. But look at the selection! All the dumplings. We ended up buying Kaya as well for Ying's mom. Tasty!

Caught a glimpse of the Singapore Eye on our way to Sentosa Island.

"So adult in taste" - Haha... I was thinking so 'aunty' in taste you mean! :p

I would have loved to stuff myself with the century egg porridge and all the dumplings.
