Sydney Day 1: 13 Degrees
We set off at 6 am. It was -2 Degrees in Canberra and it was very foggy. Riding in the fog was such an experience.
As soon as we rose above the fog, the view was spectacular! We could see the mountain tops with the fog swirling mysteriously around it. Breathtaking!
However, sadly I missed EVERYTHING. A Certain Bro-in-Law told me to take a Kwells pill for travel sickness. We hadn't had time to adjust yet since landing in Canberra so we were very behind on sleep plus waking up at the wee hours of the morning to go to Sydney, I knew I would be in trouble if I didn't take any medications. So I downed the entire pill and it ended up sedating me like an elephant shot with a tranquiliser. I could barely stand up when we landed and I was sooo loopy. I staggered around like a drunkard. Ying literally had to bolster and drag my butt around the airport because I was so sedated and I was falling to the left and right. Hahah. Quite an experience. I was knocked out immediately when we took the van out from the airport.
We had Harry's for lunch. Lovely pie with gravy, mash potatoes and peas!
We were desperate to check in but was told that the room wouldn't be ready until 3 hours later.
So we decided to take a long walk. We passed the bridge and headed to the Rocks market.
There were many interesting stores... some too interesting.
We headed back to the harbour and walked past some buskers...
It wasn't until we found an ice-cream stand and I took a lick of Rum and Raisin and some other fantastic flavour that I finally woke up.
Climbed up to the Opera House.
Touched some tiles :D
Walked to the Queen Victoria Building next to look for lunch spots.
The famous intricate clock.
McD. What burger? Obviously go for the flavours not found in Msia.
Finally! Checked in. 5 star hotels never disappoint! Flat screen TV, separate shower room, bath and toilet. Awesomeness.
The view from the room was stunning. We had a view all the way to the harbour and bridge. Gorgeous! Took a nap and headed out to the city again.
Ying caught a rare shot of all the traffic lights turning red at the same time.
China-town of course!
A couple of Aussies were asking whether it was worth the wait and what it was. Everyone always ends up queuing as well. Hee. Totally worth it I would say! Yums!
So much so that Ying decided to stay back in the shop while we headed back to Westin. 1 full hour landing planes, driving cars and bowling coloured balls into a large revolving mouth did not suffice for that nutter. :D
I, on the other hand, went back to the hotel and 'stewed in my own filth', so to speak. :) Indulged in a long warm bath.
That ends a very tiring but fully rewarding day in the hustle and bustle of Sydney. Thanks sis and Alex for the lovely lovely trip!
