Summer has come around again this year which brings with it many memories from the year past. Realising that my travel log is way outdated and my memory lapsing with time, I decided to bite the dusty bullet and blog. Last August, with some recommendations from the parents-in-law and some well-priced tickets from Easyjet, we managed to score a Swiss getaway. My husband had wanted to go back to the Alps where he'd been as a child. A short plane ride to Bern and off we were to Grindelwald via Interlaken by a double decker train. We got to sit on the upper deck, very fun experience.
Managed to get a few shots of Interlaken whilst in the train. I absolutely love that every train station has a giant clock which the trains actually mostly abide by. It's great because we get antsy when there is lack of structure in things. :)
The trains were wonderful to ride in. The weather was perfect, not too hot nor too cold. We were treated to amazing views on the way in.
After arriving at Grindelwald, we took a short walk uphill to the place we were staying at: the Alpenblick. There were people being shown Grindelwald in a horsedrawn carriage. A tad hard to enjoy I would think particularly because that day was super sunny (see the guy on the left blocking the sun out). Met the most sweet dog outside Migros (provider of gobsmacking yoghurt and many more for the most of our stay).
Arrived at the Alpenblick, slightly panting given the huge luggages we were hauling. Nice and pleasant room with very comfortable beds. Pillows were a bit flat but the view of the Eiger from the window made up for it.
Classic Swiss lodges scattered all across the plain.
We went for our first grocery run and got super excited over the selection. The yoghurt definitely was the best we'd ever had. These Johannsibeeren looked yummy but they were so extremely sour. Suppose it's like grapefruit. Got some Grindelwald cheese which was very strong cheese.
The view from the Resort- breathtaking. Despite it being summer, there was still snow at the top of the mountains.
We spent the remainder of the day walking about and practising our photography skills.
